Lantern Parade Celebration

On 5th February 2018, 100 years after the Representation of the People Act was passed in 1918, a Lantern Parade is organized by the Briston Women’s Voice and supported by the University of Bristol. Starting from Berkeley Square – close to the former Suffragette Headquarters leads the march down Park Street to City Hall at 6.30pm.

Across the country, people took sides both for and against the suffrage movement and Bristol was no different. Bristol suffered majorly of it. The staff and students of the University would join the parade on Tuesday to mark the centenary.

Through this Parade, the marchers would give a voice to the suffrage movement and a light to the dark lives of the sufferers.
